Small Boat Fleet

May 28, 1909 – Thus far this spring the police at this place have registered 130 small boats and, as the boats average four passengers, they have carried away about 520 people.

In the matter of nationality of those going down the river in small boats those from the States predominate while England comes next with Scandinavians third. Very few Canadians have gone in the small boat fleet and only 20 or 25 Montenegrins, although practically all nationalities are represented on the police register.

Lately there has been a falling off in the number of small boats leaving for down river but there will probably be a revival in travel of that class by the middle of June by which time the lake will be open and the way clear all the way from here to points on the lower Yukon.
