North looks promising to copper millionaire

July 3, 1903 – “J. H. Conrad, the Montana copper millionaire, returned from an inspection of the Whitehorse copper properties and the Engineer and Gleaner groups yesterday. He has spoken very highly of the Whitehorse prospects, and strongly advises the owners to develop their properties. He thinks they are very well worth putting money into.

Mr. Conrad has not yet given his views as to the Engineer and the Gleaner prospects.

The big Montanan is so well satisfied with the outlook in the North that he has promised to come back again before the close of the present season.

Mr. Conrad is heavily interested in mining properties in the neighborhood of Ketchikan.”

“Colonel” John Howard Conrad returned to the Yukon several times and investigated hardrock properties across the southern Yukon. He earned everlasting fame by starting the Windy Arm stampede of silver properties southeast of Carcross.
