The RCMP are looking for a vehicle involved in an accident in Rabbit’s Foot Canyon during this morning’s rush hour.
“At 8:33 a.m., Whitehorse RCMP received a report that a vehicle struck a cyclist in the area of Rabbit’s Foot Canyon, on the Alaska Highway,” police said.
“The vehicle did not remain at the scene of the collision. Police closed the road for investigation at Two Mile Hill and the Alaska Highway and closed at Centennial Street and the Alaska Highway with no through traffic.
“Multiple investigators responded in addition to a traffic collision analyst. Police know the traffic is significantly affected, and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding.”
The city was recommending that drivers use Mountainview Drive as an alternative route to get to the downtown core from the north. The Alaska Highway reopened at 2:45 p.m.
