There are now nine wildfires burning in the territory, according to the latest update from Yukon Wildland Fire Management.
“A full response is taking place for DA-004, a two-hectare fire near Bell Creek 20 kilometres west of Dawson,” the most current update states.
“Last night, air tankers used retardant to contain the fire while a wildfire crew prepared the site for suppression work today. There are no properties currently at risk from this fire.”
There have been 15,654.1 total hectares burned this season. Ten wildfires have been extinguished.
Seven wildfires are in remote areas and are being monitored.
