Moose chose downtown route for its travels

There was a moose on the loose Friday in Whitehorse.

A Facebook post by the Yukon Conservation Officer Services highlighted the shenanigans.

“Officers are currently on scene in downtown Whitehorse after receiving reports of a moose in the area near 5th street and Hanson St,” the post read.

“In a coordinated effort with Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Yukon, conservation officers deterred the moose from the area and have moved it across the road to the green space along the clay cliffs.”

The post recommended that motorists “travelling through the area are asked to please slow down, drive carefully, remain alert and be prepared to stop. Trail users are asked to consider alternate routes, be vigilant and keep pets leashed.

“Conservation officers are continuing to encourage it away from the urban area and will be monitoring the movements of this animal as it passes through. Please respect the animal’s space and keep away from the area.”
