There was more high-profile police activity in Whitehorse’s Riverdale neighbourhood on Tuesday evening.

Whitehorse RCMP released a statement at about 7 p.m. saying “officers are attending locations related to an ongoing police operation in the Riverdale subdivision area near Green Crescent and Duke Street. There will be an increased police presence in the area until further notice.

“At this time, there is no immediate danger to the public in this area.”

A followup announcement stated “police have executed a warrant for the arrest of a male. The male has been taken into police custody. Police remain in the area to continue their investigation.”

It’s unknown if this is related to similar activity Sunday evening in Riverdale that resulted in a heavy police presence near an apartment building on Teslin Road before a man was arrested. Police have released no further information about that arrest.
