There’s money at the box office

Yukon MP Brendan Hanley continues to let the money flow for federal projects in the territory.

Hanley announced Wednesday morning that the federal government, through its CanNor division, will provide more than $645,000 to two film-related organizations.

“CanNor’s investment of over $645,000 will support the Screen Production Yukon Association and Shot in the Dark Productions to build capacity in the Yukon’s screen media industry,” Hanley said.

“Our government supports the development of a vibrant and thriving screen media industry in the Yukon. Investing in this industry promotes cultural expression, technological innovation and community engagement, contributing to the overall prosperity and well-being of the territory.

“It offers direct economic benefits for the people who work on the productions and secondary benefits to many other industries, such as catering, accommodations and transportation.”
