There was a fatal crash at the Haines Junction airport on Monday afternoon.
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB), along with the Yukon Coroner’s Office and the RCMP, are investigating the crash, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m.
According to a spokesperson, the TSB “has been notified of the accident at Haines Junction airport, YT, and is currently gathering information, assessing the occurrence, and determining the next steps. Investigators are en route to the site today.”
The following information was reported to the TSB: “On 10 June 2024, a Cessna U206G, owned and operated by Rocking Star Adventures Ltd., was conducting flight in the area of Haines Junction, YT. At approximately 1533 PDT, the aircraft collided with terrain on the airport’s ground. There was no post-impact fire.”

Heather Jones, the Yukon’s chief coroner, spoke to the Yukon Star briefly this morning but had little information to offer.
Jones confirmed that one person has died, but that was the extent of her information.
She expects a news release may be issued within a couple of days.
Municipal staff members from the village also said they had little information about the fatal accident.
