African tribal hunters know not to keep mentioning the name of the kind of an animal they are tracking down to kill for food. The closer they get, the less they speak the name because to speak its name would give it strength.
So I went to the Elijah Smith Building to ask if a certain department had an office there. Yes, but no; it isn’t staffed!
Did they have an address to write to? No; but I got a toll-free number. So off I went and called the number.
The robot gave me options – “If this,” “If that ….” But nothing of what I wanted, so I tried to get a human being and just got cut off!
At the library, I got the address off the computer and wrote to tell them what I’m concerned about and included enough information so they’d know it’s me.
About a month later, they sent me a letter inviting me to their website.
It was a huge string of characters more than a whole line long.
I tore it up.
