Cyclist dies following hit-and-run collision

The cyclist involved in a hit-and-run accident Thursday morning in the Rabbit’s Foot Canyon section of the Alaska Highway has died, the RCMP said this morning.

They also said they have found the car involved in the collision.

No details were offered on where the vehicle was found, nor whether the identity of the driver has been established.

 “Police extend their condolences to the family. To respect the privacy of the family, no further details will be provided.”

In a prepared statement, Sgt. Brent Edwards said, “I would like to thank the public for all of their calls yesterday in providing valuable information in regards to our request for assistance in locating the vehicle.

“We would like to, again, request some help from the community. If anyone has dash camera footage from the morning of June 13, or were a witness to the collision, please contact the Whitehorse RCMP.”

If you were a witness to the collision, or have camera footage in the area of Porter Creek and Rabbit’s Foot Canyon showing a black Chrysler 300 around the time of the accident, you’re asked to contact police.They were notified of the collision at 8:33 a.m.
