A respiratory outbreak declared on June 20 at Whitehorse General Hospital hasn’t run its course yet.
According to hospital spokesperson Jessica Apolloni, “The outbreak declared on June 20 is still ongoing. I will know Tuesday whether it will be declared over or is continuing.
“Currently, it is under control, and our staff are accustomed to following infection control policies.”
The territory’s hospitals, Apolloni added, “continue to be a safe place to receive care, and to protect those most vulnerable among us, we’re asking anyone experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat, or shortness of breath to avoid visiting the Medical Unit.
“Please visit with caution if you are elderly, immune-compromised, or on medications like steroids.
“If you do visit the Medical Unit, please wear a mask and clean your hands (with sanitizer) when coming and going from the hospital, treatment areas and patient rooms. Our team is following protocols to ensure patient and visitor safety. We appreciate your co-operation and support.”
