Editorial Statement and Mission
The Yukon Star is an independent, locally owned media organization that serves as a professional and impartial source of news and information. Through print and online coverage, our goal is to promote awareness of and informed dialogue by Yukon residents about important issues facing our community.
The Yukon Star works to ensure every community sees itself in our content, to promote greater understanding and awareness.
We welcome the voices of local columnists, freelancers and community correspondents, along with important national and international stories from the trusted news services of the Canadian Press and the Associated Press.
The Yukon Star was founded in May 2024 to carry on the tradition of the Whitehorse Star (1900-2024), and its role as an impartial chronicler and tribune of public opinion. A reliable source of news is fundamental to every democracy and supports greater understanding and respectful debate.
Land and Reconciliation Statement
The Yukon Star recognizes its responsibility to provide fair and non-discriminatory reporting on Aboriginal issues. We recognize our role to observe and celebrate the unique relationships set out in the Yukon First Nation Final Agreements, which are key to reconciliation. We are grateful to work, live and play as part of a diverse, respectful society in the traditional territories of Yukon First Nations and Transboundary First Nations.

The Yukon Star is locally and independently owned by 842669 Yukon Inc., whose shareholders are local residents Max Fraser, Nancy Campbell, Peter Densmore and Dr. Danny Rai.
Registered address for business is Suite #601-210 Hawkins St, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada Y1A 1X4. Business operations are located in offices at 2250 2nd Avenue, Whitehorse, Y1A 1C8.
The Yukon Star has applied to be a voting member of the Canadian Press, and has applied for membership in the News Media Canada, the national association of the Canadian news media industry, and the Yukon Chamber of Commerce.
